Jana {Maternity} Evie {Newborn} Baton Rouge Children’s Photographer

Jana & Dustin came in to the studio the week before her due date, yes she was 39 weeks pregnant and looked this good!
A week or so later Miss Evie made her arrival and they brought her by the studio for her newborn session at 2 weeks. Well when you hear there is a small window to get those sleepy baby portraits it’s no lie. She was very alert and no matter what trick we tried we could not get her to fall into a deep sleep. I have to admit this is very rare for me, my friends jokingly call me the “Baby Whisperer”! We were only able to snap a few frames and she was done with us. Mom and Dad seemed to have their fill for the day as well so I offered to come to their home on another day to complete the session. We still couldn’t get her to go down but we were able to get some adorable ones in her nursery that showed off the bedding that her grandmother made for her and the beautiful wall that her mom stenciled to tied together the perfect nursery for her!

Abby Klaire {Hospital Newborn Portraits}

Meet Miss Abby Klaire and her proud parents Brooke and Cade and big sis Ava! Brooke is a great friend of mine and fellow photographer and I was honored that she asked me to come to the hospital and document this special time with her and the newest member of their family.
Isn’t she precious!

Now a little side note about this sweet baby girl… she was a complete surprise to mom and dad. They were not “trying” and it took them some time to conceive Ava. Their wedding anniversary was exactly 9 months before Abby was born and Brooke surprised Cade with a Boudoir session album I did for their anniversary. Now I am not saying that I can cure infertility but coincidence? I think not! Ha! = )

I am ordering these precious name board samples today… I’ll have on display soon for you to check them out. This is my beautiful first year client Emma! Each letter/image is a 10×20 print mounted on styrene so that it can stand alone. Great for mantels, wall shelves or to hang with ribbon above the child’s bed. So many things you can do with them… what are your ideas for them? Want some of your very own? Call or email for quotes and session information!

Cannon – {10 days old} Baton Rouge Children’s Photographer

Meet Cannon Asher… his mom contacted me a few months before his due date to set up his newborn session. It’s a good thing she was on the ball because he surprised them and came 3 weeks early! I LOVE his name and for those of you who don’t know Cannon is my “boy” name for my future baby boy = ) So I was very excited to work with him and his parents to capture the sweetness of his first days. He was all smiles for the session and slept like a good boy through all of my “posing” of him. His little smile melts my heart… he’s a ladies man already!

Story of a Portrait Session {Blaire & Kileigh} – Baton Rouge Children’s Photographer

This is my third time photographing Miss Kileigh, she is always a trip to work with and never leaves a dull moment! When her mom got to the studio with her for this session she was sound asleep. She had finally fallen asleep on the ride over after refusing to take a nap earlier in the day. I thought this would be a great session to show what it really takes to get great kids portraits and for parents to see they are not alone.. all kids act like kids when they are here. It is not their job to behave like perfect angels and sit still, it is my job to capture their true personalities by doing whatever random thing it is that makes them laugh. We pulled out all the punches with Kileigh who is obviously smarter than we were giving her credit for = )
This was one of the first pictures taken for the session, not long after she woke up but after she was bribed with Smartees to even enter the camera room!
She was obviously not very happy… so we broke out the bubbles next….
And they worked briefly…
Then she became really interested in the camera and saw a big bubble that was inside of it (thankful that the curve and coating on the lens makes it appear to have a large bubble trapped inside, leave it to a child to notice it)
With the help of the bubble in the camera that was going to “get” her we managed to get these series of images…
After that brief minute mom had to resort to throwing her up in the air for giggles…
Then she was back to the camera… she was the photographer this time.. I may have a future assistant on my hands!
I can just hear her thinking in this one… “See I am being a good girl”.. her expression is priceless! Amazing what I few sips of coke to a child will do!
Time for a little snuggle time with mommy…

Lynsey & Tanner – {Mommy & Me} Baton Rouge Family Photographer

Some of you may recognize Lynsey and her precious baby boy Tanner… she was one of my 2009 brides. Her husband brought her and Tanner in for the Mommy & Me special at the studio and it was such a trip to see how much Tanner has grown since the last time I saw him.

This little cutie came in for a Mommy & Me session last week. Her mom called me from the hospital to set up the appointment, love it when mom’s do that! Even though it was a Mommy & Me session we let Daddy hop in for a few… how could I not, he absolutely adores her! Baby girl has got it made already at 5 days old!

Brenden {1 day old} – Baton Rouge Newborn Photographer

Meet the precious Brenden and his adoring older brothers. I had the honor of photographing this family last week at Ochsner Medical Center. I had met his parents Lorin & Mark at their Grand Opening so they gave me a call when she delivered. I love watching siblings “inspect” their new addition, it melts my heart every time. This was no exception, they checked out his fingers, toes and “bo-bo’s”, sweetest thing ever! Here are a few of my favs from the session. Congrats to his parents and proud older brothers!
